Introduction to Plant Dyeing

Back to the Colorful Beginnings of Dyeing

Contrary to many misconceptions, plant dyeing is neither difficult nor dangerous – rather, it is a wonderful pleasure that brings us closer to the nature we live in.

In three hours, we will learn the complete process of dyeing with plant & natural dyes: from mordanting to the actual dyeing and further developing colors.

In addition to detailed theory, two dye baths will be prepared, in which we will dye yarn together. At the end, each participant can (if desired) take home 1-2 skeins of self-dyed yarn.

Materials to bring: rubber gloves, kitchen apron, writing utensils.

If you wish to take dye bath liquid with you, please bring heat-resistant (!)  bottles or canisters.

Material costs only apply to the skeins of wool that are taken home. They will be settled directly with the course instructor during the course.
